Oxicer

OXICER is a water-soluble powder, ideal for high-level decontamination, cleaning and disinfection of medical and surgical devices in hospitals, medical clinics and dental practices. Its formulation includes several components with specific functions.
When treating medical and surgical devices, the use of OXICER in diluted solution allows for rapid decontamination and cleaning in a single operation. OXICER is particularly suitable for rubber, glass and porcelain instruments and can be used on all metals except nickel, aluminium, galvanised iron and chrome. It does not cause corrosion and is compatible with use in ultrasonic tanks.

  • 1000 g bottle

  • 100 g contain: sodium percarbonate 53 g, tetraacetylethylenediamine (TAED) 23 g, anhydrous citric acid, enzymes, chelating agents, stabilizers, alkalizing agents and corrosion inhibitors.

Peracetic acid (active oxygen), formed by the reaction between hydrogen peroxide (released from sodium percarbonate dissolved in water) and tetraacetylethylenediamine (TAED), provides OXICER with significant biocidal activity against spores, viruses, bacteria, mycobacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis, TBC) and fungi. To document and confirm the product’s characteristics, the following tests were carried out in accordance with EN 14885:2015:

  • VIRUCIDAL ACTIVITY
    Applied method: EN 14476. Quantitative test for evaluating virucidal activity on instruments used in the medical area.
  • BACTERICIDAL ACTIVITY
    Applied method: EN 13727 – EN 14561. Quantitative test for evaluating bactericidal activity on instruments used in the medical area.
  • FUNGICIDAL ACTIVITY
    Applied method: EN 13624 – EN 14562. Quantitative test for evaluating fungicidal activity on instruments used in the medical area.
  • MYCOBACTERICIDAL ACTIVITY
    Applied method: EN 14348 – EN 14563. Quantitative suspension test for evaluating mycobactericidal activity on instruments used in the medical area, in the presence of interfering substances.
  • SPORICIDAL ACTIVITY
    Applied method: NFT 72-190 – EN 13704. Quantitative suspension test for evaluating sporicidal activity on instruments used in the medical area, in the presence of interfering substances.

Based on this activity, the formulation acts as both a decontaminant and a high-level disinfectant.

MATERIAL COMPATIBILITY DATA
OXICER solutions are compatible with the main materials used in medical equipment: rubber, glass and porcelain. The solution can be used on all metals except copper, brass, zinc and iron. It does not cause corrosion on stainless steel instruments.

  1. Pour the required amount of powder into the tray using the measuring scoop (30 ml = 20 g);
  2. Stir gently (part of the product will remain undissolved as a reserve, maintaining a constant concentration of active ingredient (PAA) in solution): the solution is ready after 15 minutes;
  3. Immerse the instruments immediately after use, without pre-washing;
  4. The powder begins to release peracetic acid (active oxygen), while the enzymes dissolved in water break down and remove blood, mucus, pus and any other organic residues of protein, lipid and carbohydrate nature from the instruments.

OXICER is a water-soluble powder to be used in aqueous solution at the indicated dilutions:

  • 20 g/l: high-level disinfection in 10 minutes;
  • 20 g/l: high-level disinfection in 15 minutes in case of heavy soiling.

At the end of the contact time, rinse the medical devices thoroughly with water.

Note: The diluted solutions have a milky appearance. This represents an operational advantage, as it discourages improper and unsafe behavior such as immersing hands to retrieve the devices.

OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR DEVICE REMOVAL

  1. Lift the instrument tray grid from the decontamination solution;
  2. Place it on the edge of the tray;
  3. Remove the device;
  4. Reposition the grid.

The working solutions may also be used for decontamination and high-level disinfection of fiber-optic equipment (e.g., endoscopes), as there are no substantial physico-chemical incompatibilities between the solution components and the materials of such devices.

The product becomes active 15 minutes after dissolution; the prepared solution remains effective for a minimum of 24 hours.
